Bill Bendyshe-Brown, Chairman of Wycombe District Council, attended the Parish Council meeting on Wednesday 22nd July. He touched on a wide range of topics affecting the village. In particular he spent some time updating the meeting on matters germane to the proposed travellers’ sites.
Since the election in May meeting the accommodation needs of travellers and gypsies has been devolved to local authorities. Prior to May the driving force was to ensure that local authorities met targets laid down by central government.
At a recent ‘stakeholder’ workshop with councillors from several parishes, concerns had been aired and as a result Wycombe District Council is working on a further policy guidance note. This will be open to some consultation.
On issues concerning Stokenchurch, Mr. Bendyshe-Brown said that the site at Five Oaks Farm, Studley Green, had been the subject of a planning application which was approved in May. The permission was subject to a number of conditions including a limitation to 3 caravans and it being personal to the applicants.
At Dry Banks there have been some initial discussions with the site owner but no firm proposals have emerged as yet. The council are awaiting pre-application proposals and when things get to this stage the District Council will encourage the owner or his agent to talk to the Parish Council and also to adjoining occupiers and owners.
When there is further news this website will be updated.

Thanks to the community service work of the local Freemasons Lodge, Some clearance work took place in the Marlow Road cemetery over the weekend of 26th/27th June.
The Freemasons will be clearing undergrowth and overgrown areas as part of the Parish Council's attempts to restore the cemetery as an area of tranquilty, peaceful contemplation and respect for former villagers, who are buried there.
In due course, it is hoped to lower the hedges, clear rubble and re-site gravestones around the boundary of the cemetery.
